Newton County 4-H has many areas where youth ages 5-18 can participate and obtain hands on experience in various subject areas including robotics, computers, art, photography, leadership, competitive shooting sports, livestock and horses. For youth that want to attend Mississippi State University, there are thousands of dollars in scholarships available for kids that have been active in 4-H. The MSU Extension website has volumes of publications available for public use in various areas of science, agriculture, food preservation and gardening. County agents are available to provide programs or activities for home school families that want to supplement their curriculum. All 82 counties in Mississippi have a local MSU Extension office with agents that specialize in subject areas and all information is research based from the university and free of charge.
