MAAC - Mindful Awareness Academy for Children (Signature Tutoring Group)

Mindful Awareness Academy for Children (Signature Tutoring Group) is a non-profit company that provides academic, social, and emotional support for high school students. The Academy works in conjunction with local high schools to address the achievement gap. All programs are based on a mindful approach to learning. Practicing mindfulness enables us to examine our responses to information.
There is a growing need to support children of color, not only academically but emotionally and socially. According to the article, "Promoting student behavior and learning through multi-tiered systems of support, " by Barbara Bole Williams, Ph.D, a muti-tiered system of support (MTSS) is critical for student learning. MTSS is an evidence-based, multi-tiered framework for effectively integrating multiple systems and services to simultaneously address student academic achievement, behavior and social-emotional well-being.
