For homeschooled students in grades 11-12 with an exceptional ability in hands-on mechanical skills and an interest in a science and technology career, Euclid Techlabs offers a summer volunteer internship for 2025, onsite in Beltsville, MD. Euclid is a scientific R&D and engineering company with an emphasis on advanced materials and devices for the particle accelerator and electron microscopy industries. Laboratory duties will involve hands-on work with ultrahigh vacuum equipment and shop tools, management of a lab safety database, data collection, and data analysis. Required skills include excellent familiarity with hand and power tools (ideally in construction, contracting, auto repair, farming, or similar settings), very high attention to detail, and a strong mathematical/scientific inclination with A grades in at least three of the following: Calculus II, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, English Composition. Qualifying students should have participated in at least three science fairs to date and be prepared to discuss their past science fair projects.
