The Wichita Nation Indian Guides program provides an environment where Fathers and Sons can be “Pals Forever” through events, such as our Camping Trips, Bowling Parties, NHR2O swim party, Winter Rock Climbing, Texas Brahmas game, Rocket Day, Fishing Hole Day and of course... Pinewood Derby. You don't have to be an expert outdoorsman to join. Members camp in state parks as a group, so you have plenty of support. Sons learn about native American traditions and hold respectful ceremonies at each camp out to honor those traditions.
Membership in the Wichita Nation is available to Fathers and Sons in the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas. The program includes boys ages 4 and up. At the end of 4th grade, they can earn their Red Arrow and develop their leadership skills by acting as mentors for the younger guides. There is no age limit, but the boys tend to move on once they get involved in Jr High activities and sports.
Indian Guides are part of the Bear Creek Federation - a non-profit 501C3 organization that has 5 nations across the metroplex. The sister organization is the Yo He Wah Indian princess nation for girls. The website is www.dfwindianprincess.com Total membership is around 600 families.
