Begin Anew empowers individuals to overcome the obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources.
Begin Anew serves the Middle Tennessee area through five locations in Nashville, Madison, and Franklin, TN. The program provides three curriculum tracks for students: High School Equivalency test preparation, Computer and Job Skills, and Life Skill English. Enrollment in this service is open to persons of all faiths and culture.
When individuals enroll in Begin Anew, they find small classes of 8-10 students led by volunteers eager to teach and make a personal investment of time. Each student attends educational classes, has access to community resources, and is matched with an Encourager (Mentor) who provides support, encouragement, and accountability. A student attends four hours of class a week at no cost to the students for a one to two year period or until they reach their goals.
