Cons: not scripted

This program brought my oldest son from 1st grade level in english language to 6th in one year. It is an intensive phonics based, integrated reading, writing, spelling, grammar program. I also have used it for my youngest son and daughter solely, my daughter read and wrote at an 8th grade level in 5th grade, my son took until 3rd grade to read at grade level but now in 6th grade he reads at an 8th grade level. English is a phonetic language and should be taught as such, Chinese is a pictorial language and is taught as such, teaching Chines phonetically makes as much sense as teaching English pictorially, (whole language, look see, etc.) This program does require some study and preparation to understand and teach, but works wonders!
Cons: Not scripted
Grades Used: K-4th
My son was taught this in a Charter School before being home schooled. I was very impressed with how quickly he began to read and spell accurately. I don't believe it is adapted well to homeschooling though, it is not scripted and requires the teacher to be trained extensively to effectively teach it. I still use the phonogram cards and spelling rules/lists in my home school.
