Great Science Adventures from Dinah Zike is an arts and crafts-based science program that allows children at different grades and levels of mastery to be taught at the same time. Each level has 24 lessons, two to three are completed each week. The teacher instructions are embedded in the text, allowing instruction to take place immediately after the materials are received, with no additional preparation. The course works well with lapbooking and notebooking.

Cons: uses a lot of paper, no true textbook
Grades Used: 5th and 6th
I used this for multiple grades, 5th and 6th. My son, a 5th grader, is very hands on and he enjoys putting together the books and doing all the experiments. My daughter, who is in 6th, likes the "crafty" aspect of the curriculum, but we also suppliment her lessons with online activities and another set of science books. I would not recommend this unless you are a very hands on kind of teacher. Each lesson requires you to put together the 'book' and create displays, lab books, etc. It is very paper intensive (if you are making copies of the material as I am). However if you have a very visual and hands-on learner as I do, it's a lot of fun. There are labs and experiments in each lesson.
