We started Calvert this year as my daughter was entering her junior year. Most friends and family were supportive, but still concerned she might miss out on things.
She was so tired from the rigor of school and competitive dance, that we were worried about her. Moving to Calvert was the best decision for her and the impact on our family has been huge.
She came from a private school and I believe the education she is getting at Calvert is equal and I am beyond confident that our daughter will be more than prepared for college. Her teachers and counselor are so easy to work with and have been extremely helpful every step of the way.
She’s excited for the next semester and looking forwarding to dual enrollment classes next year!
Cons: Nothing

My son has been with Calvert since kindergarten, he loves it , he developed a study habit routine from Monday to Friday, teachers are very supportive as well as their staff checking in with their student and parents too . I’m glad we chose Calvert , I highly recommend it . My son is finishing 8th grade this May and will continue with Calvert !
Cons: My daughter needs the social environment, friends and schoolmates.

My daughter studied at Calvert Academy for two years and it was a great experience. We did the change from a traditional school to a homeschool platform because she was very into gymnastics, so she had more time to practice her sport.
The classes were very explicit and easy to understand, even though we are not from the USA and English is our second language.
Cons: Cost. I understand this is online. But a lot of the fees are redundant.

Calvert is great! We travel quite a bit. After some research, and we decided on Calvert and never looked back. It took us like a year to really get into it. The kids were missing their friends. But all in all, the flexibility and freedom that it allowed us helped. The classes were also quite challenging. This made the kids more determined to do better. And it worked. When Covid hit, we had nothing to worry about. School as usual. My oldest will be graduating soon and although there hasn't been much socialization, I can surely say that she's definitely ready for college academically.

We enrolled with Calvert Academy shortly after COVID took grip. My son is so very happy with his courses and teachers and has done so well these past years. He’s happy to be in control of his schedule and has averaged a 3.85 gpa. We are a family that travels a lot and Calvert is the perfect fit for our lifestyle.
Cons: No socialization, however that is up to the parent/guardian if you've chosen to homeschool.

After hours of research, I enrolled my son into Calvert for his 5th grade year because I was worried about COVID and at the time there were no vaccines available for children his age. My son did very well and he learned at his own pace. The staff are very responsive and involved with any inquiries you may have. They also call you throughout both semesters to check in on your child and see how they are doing. My son is now at a public middle school this year and he is ahead of his peers in all core subjects. I was amazed at how far ahead he was. I hear nothing but praise from all of his teachers. I recommend Calvert to any parent/guardian and I would definitely use Calvert again in the future. The only thing that I struggled with as a parent was making sure my son got enough socialization with other children his age. Since it was during the height of COVID it was difficult for him to see kids his age and it did affect his mental health. However, other than that I loved my experience with Calvert and I would go back in a heartbeat if I could!
Cons: Most of the electives are still on the old platform which was NOT as user friendly as Edgenuity. That should be changed as soon as possible.

My child has been with Calvert Academy for 6 years now and she's quite happy with the program, specially since the new platform Edgenuity has been launched/implemented. She said it made her life much easier. As a working actor, a ballet student, and her academics, the online curriculum at Calvert works for her well. Over the last few years, we have seen the Academy change for the better.
The coordinators are on top of the student's work, the teachers are available for questions, Dr Sengsouvanna, the principal is very responsive and is always there when needed. Lately virtual classes were added and so were parent-teacher conferences. It's becoming more and more like a traditional school.
It's a great option for families who want distance learning for their children.
Cons: Creat more live lectures with all students

My children were with Calvert for 6 years. At first they took a few months to adjust however after that they felt confident and were enjoying the learning materials. Specially the past few years when the new principal came, we saw great positive changes with Calvert. Excellent communication with staff and teachers. The new site was organised and easy to follow.

My kids started with Calvert Academy five years ago. My oldest child was a freshman in high school and my youngest child was in fifth grade. Both of my kids are self-sufficient and their grades are superb. The teachers check in weekly and I receive a detailed by-weekly progress report to keep me informed.
My daughter was accepted in a four-year college with a great scholarship. Furthermore, my daughter’s experience in Calvert Academy helped her be involved with different departments in the university and was already featured in a Forbes article. My daughter is also the senator of the student government association at the university and her professors speak very highly of her. I definitely recommend Calvert Academy because it teaches kids how to meet deadlines, become self-sufficient, time management, and holding themselves accountable.
Cons: No Cons. Even if there is an issue, Calvert staff help resolving it right away.

My daughter is in her 10th grade. Calvert helped us a lot as we lived in many countries, and my kids were saved from the trouble of changing schools due to moving from one country to another. Calvert offers a very flexible program for students. The staff is always there for any help needed or to resolve any issue. I always receive calls from Calvert to see if everything is fine. I receive biweekly emails reporting my daughter’s grades and progress. I’m glad that I chose Calvert.
Cons: More independent compared to public schools, time management is important
Grades Used: 1st, 2nd, 3rd for my youngest & 6th, 7th for my oldest
I'm grateful to Calvert Academy for this wonderful program. The curriculum can be a bit challenging for students, but as long as you master the art of time management you'll be fine. I like that faculty and staff are ready to help any way possible. You can call or email them and you'll get a reply within the day. We get calls every couple of weeks to check up on my kids to see how everything is going. This was the best decision I made since the Covid pandemic. I'm a travel nurse and this allows me freedom in my schedule to spend with my kids while getting a good education. I love the flexibility.
Cons: Honestly, I have no cons. People say what about the social aspect of homeschooling, well I am here to tell you that do not worry about that. Your children have social interactions every day.

I am a mother of an 11 yr old son and a9 yr old daughter. I live in a small town in northern Michigan and when the pandemic hit and all the schools shut down, they were so unprepared and my husband said well lets start homeschooling and I was so against it because I am not a teacher for a reason and i like sending the kiddos to school. I was standing in line at our local grocery store and an older lady standing in line behind me asked what my plan was since the schools are shut down? Honestly I had no idea, I am new to this... she started talking about Calvert Academy and she told me to seriously go home and look it up. I literally went home and told my husband about my conversation and we looked it and called and talked to Sarah for about 2 hours about all the ins and outs of Calvert and how long they have been a school and so on. Needless to say we signed up and here we are today! We started with a 3rd grader which started online and 1st grader who started in workbooks and I fell in love with Calvert!! The level of academics Calvert has is beyond what any public school I have been to or my children have attended. Calvert is extremely academically driven which is what we want for our children! They have staff calling all the time and there are so many ways to get help if your student or you need! They have excellent teachers who respond and send messages daily. They have a tutor me application if your student isn't grasping a subject! Hands down the best decision we have ever made regarding our children and their education! Totally worth it!
Cons: None so far

Anyone at Calvert I have spoken to has been extremely helpful and easy to talk to. From getting enrolled, to selecting classes, or just even getting proof of enrollment, so my daughter could get her learners permit.
Our daughter competes in barrel racing all over the United States and we were searching for a accredited home schooling option that allowed us the flexibility we needed. With Calvert our daughter can manage and adjust her work load based on her competition & travel schedule.
Both the student and the parent portal are easy to navigate, well organized and provide student progress for each class. Teachers offer support, are easy to reach and check in on students. Bi-weekly e-mails and calls keep us informed even when we did not have time to check the portal.
Cons: Cost

Calvert Academy platform, resources, curriculum, and teacher responsiveness is awesome. My children just completed their first semester and the timeline and flexibility not only wanting them wanting more but it allowed us to better manage their break in between.

I am truly blessed to have found this school for my boys. I loved the fact that the teachers call to check in with their students and offer help if the need it. This is by far the best school that my boys have ever attended. Thanks for being so kind and welcoming and may God bless you all! I definitely recommend this school to everyone.
Cons: Need to guide

Calvert has been a savior for our child. The program is easy to use and there are many extra offerings too. There is always helpful and amicable people to support both parents and children along the way!
Cons: None at this time

My wife and I came across Calvert Academy online when searching for an online accredited school to enroll our son in. After looking through reviews we decided to give the school a call. From the first moment we made contact we knew it would be a great fit. The staff including Sara and Audrey did an excellent job in explaining how things worked and what was required. The enrollment process was simple and smooth. After enrolling our son a month ago we decided to enroll our daughter as well. With the amount of sickness and constant issues in which kids face daily it’s excellent to know we can rely on Calvert for a great educational experience. I would strongly recommend this school to any parent looking to escape the public school system. We are very grateful for the opportunity to have our children enrolled here.
Cons: May not work as well for the dependent minded
Grades Used: 6th and 7th
This will be our second year using Calvert Academy. We started in 2021 in 6th grade and will be using their services again this year for 7th grade. It's an excellent option for homeschooling parents to subsidize part or all of your curriculum needs. Students transitioning from public school may feel overwhelmed, but we have found that the school was always willing to work with us to ensure we understood the lessons properly. We did fall behind at the beginning, which was not an issue since students start at different times threw out the year and the lesson dates are more of a guide. They want students caught up by the end of the semester but will give them an extra week, if needed for completion. I watch over the work carefully and have not found any major red flag issues you may find in public schools of today that many of us are worried about. Students will receive an excellent education, make up for the loss in educational time, and bring themselves back on track.
Cons: Fast paced without review, students can't review completed tests
I am a stay at home mother, and I started homeschooling my eleven year old son in 2021. I used Calvert academy, which is a full schedule of four classes. It is all accessible online, including fun interactive lessons, quizzes, and tests. There are a few activities scheduled in each class everyday. The average length of time each activity will take to complete is listed. As well as, a calender for the whole semester of which day certain activities and projects are due.
This allows for easy time management and planning ahead if certain subjects require extra time.
Each student is assigned to one teacher and given contact information, as well as office hours if that student has questions or needs guidance.
Quizzes and test grades are calculated immediately after completion, however, papers and projects are graded by the assigned teacher in a timely fashion.
With this program, the student has to learn the material the few lessons or days that are set. There isn't any rehashing of material or review. If your student learns better by repetition, then this will be a challenging program.
My personal complaint regarding this program is that students can not review test. They can look over missed questions on quizzes but not tests. Students can not learn from their mistakes or know where they should focus their studies, if they can't see which questions were wrong or correct.
Cons: None

Very flexible and really worked well for online learning for the past couple of years. My son enjoyed it and appreciated being able to structure his schedule as and when needed.

Awful experience. Terrible curriculum, terrible communication. This program was so hard for my son to follow due to horrific communication with his teachers. I have called several times trying to figure matters out. They put forth no effort for either my son, nor I. Please don't use this program for you kids.
Cons: The video lessons and assignments were long, the school is more focused on testing and less learning. The school is expensive for the stress it causes for you can your child. Your child will have a hard time doing this alone.
Grades Used: 7th
This school has some potential. But sadly this is not a good homeschool for your children. The work given was above the grade level my child was on. The work held my child down the whole year. If your child has focusing issues, this school is not for you. The video lessons were long and took a while to complete. The teachers were helpful, and the school called to check in, but sadly I still feel this school needs some fixes. My child had to get an extra week for each semester, and still had a long school year. My child worked all day and even on the weekends. She tried to keep up with her work. This school is stressful for your kid and you. I don’t recommend this school until something is fixed. I wish I could say better things about it but for the money we paid, it’s just not worth it. Don’t put your child through this, because I regret putting mine through it.
Cons: School calls non stop with no information, creepy and non-helpful teachers, teachers don’t respond to their emails, teachers are INSANELY hard to meet with, will allow you to retest as much as needed makes me fear if my child’s actually learning anything…
Grades Used: 8th grade
Overall could be a lot better but is good if you need a school ASAP they can get your child in quickly.
Cons: Everything else. Your child cannot do this alone
Grades Used: 6th
If you’re child has problems with comprehension, this will be torture for you! And them! This program has your child read 2-10 pages then write do a 3-4 paragraph “project” on what they read. And let’s be clear, a project is a report. They literally have a report due everyday in EVERY class, including math! So, if you’re child is struggling in reading, that means that you will have to sit next to them all day, teach yourself the assignment so that you can teach your child, then help them write a report on what you both learned! And they can’t move forward until the report is completed so don’t you dare miss one assignment and get behind. They cannot, I repeat, CAN NOT do this by themselves. You have just signed yourself up to become a teacher and somehow a motivational speaker because they will need it. Good luck!

Absolutely horrible. We canceled from the Academy due to the fact they failed to accepted in the state of Maryland for failure to submit the appropriate work. They never told us of any change, until we were contacted by THE STATE for not having enrolled them as homeschooled with the state! They then refused to give our 2nd semester money back which in their policy it states that they must due so if canceled before the 2nd semester starts....but then stated they have the right to change the policy as they wanted. We spent $2500 per child for a second year to find out that suddenly it isn't even approved in the State, and refused to give a refund for a second semester, since the changes fell 21 days after the beginning of the first semester we would get no money back....a total scam. Was told I had to call, no email, no call, no email, to cancel....and transferred from person to person....they then said they would lie to the state and say the kids did Phys Ed. Just a total mess. STAY AWAY!
