In order to maintain the high standards that our visitors and subscribers have come to expect, all ad copy must meet our technical and content guidelines.
Technical Requirements
For all ads, ad copy should:
- Include your own tracking should you want it (we recommend Google's Campaign URL Builder)
Dedicated email ad copy should:
- Be submitted by email as a ready-to-send HTML file with the subject line as the title of the page and images hosted on Client's server
- Include clean code with a responsive design for proper display on all devices (we cannot accept copy created in Word)
- Include ADA-appropriate alt tags on all images
Newsletter sponsorship ad copy should:
- Be a 600x200 JPG or PNG graphic under 50KB
- Be sent as an email attachment with the landing page URL in the body of the email
Website banner ad copy should:
- Be a JPG or PNG graphic under 50KB in the specified dimensions
- Be sent as an email attachment with the landing page URL in the body of the email
Content Requirements
Ad copy should:
- Be original
- Be free of grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors
- Use high quality images
- Use best practices for design
- Direct all links in the ad a URL or URLs with clearly labeled pricing for the advertised resource
- Direct all links in the ad a URL or URLs where the website's privacy policy is clearly linked
Additionally, because we serve homeschoolers in all 50 states with highly varying education laws, ad copy should:
- Not over-emphasize accreditation (in many states, accreditation has no value for homeschoolers and can create confusion for those parents who are part of our audience)
- Be clear about whether specific programs are for public school students, charter school students, private school students, and/or homeschool students
- Not conflate online public schooling with homeschooling
- Be clear in outlining any geographic limitations—for example, if your program is only available for families in certain states
- Be clear about which programs may be free to students due to tax funding or charitable mission—and which programs require tuition to be paid for directly by parents
If you would like more information about how this clarity is important to our readers, please reach out to us.
