Homeschool hiking/biking annual event
May 23, 2010 - May 29, 2010
The homeschool hiking/biking annual event began in May 2005 as a way to gain recognition for homeschooling as well as getting some exercise, group involvement, and introducing homeschoolers and their families to hiking and biking in the great outdoors!! It is an annual event now and will be held each year the last full week in May all across the United States. We are asking for individuals and groups involved in homeschooling to set up events in their areas. We are currently reaching out to families to let them know about our Performance Kids Programs at PHF. Performance Health and Fitness welcome kids because we think that their health and well being is important to our future. An active and healthy lifestyle is important at any age, but learning it at a young age ensures it becomes a habit for life. We are trying to get the world out to young families that we are offering low-cost fitness activities for children of all ages. We offer a number of classes that offer kids the opportunity to be active in a fun, non-competitive environment – allowing children to build self-confidence, and love of sports and fitness. We provide additional programs for kids across all our wellness, nutrition, fitness, and enrichment activities to match their needs. We provide activities for the whole child. Our work to provide activity choices suitable for children provides positive affects for families as a whole.

General Contracts Program Edgewater Park Site
The Edgewater Park site represents a Native American campsite located along the banks of the Iowa River that was occupied around 3,500–3,550 years ago (2,000–2,050 B.C). Over the years, the site has been covered by flood deposits from the Iowa River, which is why the site is now located so deeply under the current ground surface. The trench around the site has been excavated to help remove groundwater which might hinder the archaeological investigation.

Fort Museum
The Fort Museum and Fort Trading Post is the first and finest attraction in highlighting the past and present history of Northwest Iowa. The Fort Museum is truly one of the finest locations to document the development of the Des Moines River basin, and the Fort Dodge, Iowa area. The Fort Museum is also the home of the Original "Cardiff Giant". The Gypsum material to carve the statue was quarried in the Fort Dodge area quarries.

Stockman House by Frank Lloyd Wright
The Stockman House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1908 for Dr. George and Eleanor Stockman as their family home, is now a museum. Restored to its 1908 presentation and furnished with period pieces and reproductions of furnishings Wright designed for other houses, the Stockman House provides visitors with Wright's vision of a modest home of the time. The house is located within easy walking distance of other significant Prairie School buildings.

Granger House Museum
The Granger House Museum is a restored middle-class family home representing the American Victorian era. The house, built in the 1840s and occupied by a single family for nearly 100 years, showcases an extensive collection that includes many original furnishings. The 1879 brick carriage house, next to the family home, is a virtually untouched treasure and the only one of its design in the Midwest. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Granger House represents the lifestyle of a middle-class family living in late 19th century Marion. The museum's guided tours, demonstrations, and seasonal activities bring our town's history to life.
