The homeschool hiking/biking annual event began in May 2005 as a way to gain recognition for homeschooling as well as getting some exercise, group involvement, and introducing homeschoolers and their families to hiking and biking in the great outdoors!! It is an annual event now and will be held each year the last full week in May all across the United States. We are asking for individuals and groups involved in homeschooling to set up events in their areas. LIFE Learning Center is a homeschool cooperative that has weekly classes, special events, special interest clubs and yearly events such as graduation, spelling bee, parties, talent show, geography fair, and other member led activities.
Heart'N'Home School
A homeschool support group and teaching co-op. We number about 150 families (about 400 school age children), and are in our eight year as a group. We have been able to do many things as a group, including some regularly meeting co-ops teaching various topics, a cross country running team, Hebrew & Spanish language classes, partnerships for tutoring, as well as science fairs, drama camp, art classes/fairs, Keepers & Contenders for the Faith groups, field trips, etc. These are things we provide for the children. We also provide support for mothers through monthly meetings where we hire professionals to teach us on various topics of education or we share our curriculum on a given topic in smaller discussion groups. We provide a monthly newsletter & "one-list" to the group as well.

Kindermusik offers classes for ages 0 through 7 years old. The oldest classes learn all of the music notes in the treble clef while playing with other kids and on many different instruments. They learn to site sing, play a wind instrument, string instrument and keyed instrument. All of this while having fun and not being forced to "practice" thirty minutes a day. The younger children just have fun with instruments, movement and their parents. It would be a wonderful class to take while homeschooling.

Civil War Encampment and Living History
The La Porte County (IN) Historical Society Museum is hosting an Encampment and Living History event. The event will be open to the general public, at no charge, with impromptu demonstrations of camp life, care and use of weapons, and more going on throughout the day. An artillery drill will take place at 11:00 a.m. and a skirmish at 2:00 p.m. Plans for the event include a Civil War Ball on Saturday night with food and drink inspired by recipes from the 1860’s. 20th annual anniversary of Blackford County Civil War Days and 15th annual Educational Day. Bounties for first 200 (100 US/CSA) infantry, first twelve full-scale artillery, and first twelve cavalry. McClain's Historical Military Armor Museum
The museum exhibits a hands-on experience of the great war machines.
The museum depicts the evolution of United States armor from the Indian Wars to the present day. More than 35 historic military vehicles are on display. The major exhibits include half-tracks, trucks, and tanks from World War I to the present. The museum is renowned for its light-weight tank collection, which is regarded as one of the largest in the country.

Step through the museum's door and visit Miami County's Historic past. The first object that meets your eyes is Cole Porter's 1955 Fleetwood Cadillac and the Cole Porter Exhibit. On your immediate left is the history of circus in Miami County including three stagecoaches (one belonging to movie star legend, Tom Mix). Also, on the first floor you will enjoy exhibits of the Miami Indians, pioneer living, railroads, the archives, and last, but not least the museum's gift shop. On the second floor, you will step back in time and visit Peru during the 1910 era which includes a one-room school house, church, dental office, home, shops and
other businesses.
