Georgia Homeschool Laws


Code Section 20-2-690.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated
Any person who is a parent or guardian or has control or charge of any child subject to compulsory attendance and who becomes a resident of this state shall, within 60 days of having become a resident, enroll said child in a public or private school or place the child in an approved home study program.


Amendment to Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated
To amend Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to education, so as to raise the age of mandatory education from 16 to 17; to revise provisions relating to adult literacy for purposes of conformity; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

For more than 10,000 years, Russell Cave was home to prehistoric peoples. Russell Cave provides clues to the daily lifeways of early North American inhabitants dating from 6500 B.C. to 1650 A.D. The cave shelter archaeological site contains the most complete record of prehistoric cultures in the Southeast. A National Park site dedicated to teaching people about the lifeways of the pre-historic Indians who lived in the cave shelter. The Russell Cave Native American Festival is an annual event held every Spring. The festival features educational demonstrations of the authentic lifeways of the Southeastern Native American Peoples. Experience firsthand the dances, artwork and ingenuity of the Native People.

Christian Youth Theater - Atlanta
Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is an after-school theater arts training program for students ages 4 - 18. CYT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization funded primarily through its tuition, ticket sales and outside contributions. Every session (fall, winter and spring) CYT offers theater arts classes for children as an after-school activity. Each local program conducts three ten-week sessions throughout the school year, teaching drama, voice, dance and a broad spectrum of specialty theatrical workshops at weekly two-hour classes. Enrolled students have the opportunity to work behind the scenes, or audition and perform on stage in a Broadway-style musical performed for the community.

Savannah Unlimited Homeschool Network (SUHN)
Formerly known as the Savannah Secular Homeschool group (yahoo group), the Savannah Unlimited Homeschool Network (SUHN) is an inclusive secular Co-Op serving those in Chatham County, Georgia and the surrounding area. Co-Op classes are once a month. The group also offers, field trips and social activities for children and parents as well as extra-curricular clubs. This group meets for classes at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Troup Square in downtown Savannah every third Friday of the month with field trips and activites between monthly classes.


Cobb, Bartow, Cherokee, and Paulding Counties

Christians Assembled Respecting Encouraging Students. We are a once a week Christian Co-Op that offers affordable, enhancement classes for children K4 and up. We do offer playtime for children 3 and under with joining older siblings. Thursdays 1:00 - 4:00 PM.

Mother's Helper Needed!
Mother's Helper Needed! We are an easygoing Christian family with 3 kids ages 3 years, 1.5 years and 12 weeks. We are looking for a mother's helper (I will be home at all times) to help us out every Wed and Fri from 1pm-4pm. I'd love someone age 11 or older. Duties will include reading to and playing with my 3 year old (he is mildly autistic) while the other two nap plus a few light chores. We will be paying $6 an hour. I can pick up and drop off if you live very close. We are on w wylie bridge rd right off of 92. Mom and dad are more than welcome to meet us! :) Email me with interest. Thanks!
