David Berger National Memorial - Beachwood
Honoring Those Who Died - This site honors the memory of David Berger, an American citizen who was one of 11 Israeli athletes killed at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany. David had no expectations of winning a medal but joined the Israeli weightlifting team to realize his dream - a dream which ended tragically. The Memorial is dedicated to his memory and the memory of the ten other athletes.

Barkcamp State Park - Belmont

Cuyahoga Valley National Park - Brecksville

First Ladies National Historic Site - Canton
Honoring the First Ladies - Two properties, the home of First Lady Ida Saxton McKinley and the seven-story 1895 City National Bank Building, are preserved at this site, which honors the lives and accomplishments of First Ladies throughout history. The site is managed by the National Park Service and operated by the National First Ladies' Library.

Annual Ohio Regimental Military Ball - Canton
A full day to enjoy! We are featuring sutlers, photographer, afternoon social, cash bar, elegant dinner, and dancing with the Anonymous String Band. Proceeds from this event are used to support Civil War preservation and education. This year's proceeds are designated for Ohio monument preservation at Gettysburg. PH:330-769-3561. Hopewell Culture National Historical Park - Chillicothe
Sacred Spaces- A Place for Reflection in the Past and Today - Mounds of various shapes and enclosures often built in geometric patterns dot the landscape of the Ohio River Valley. These earthen structures were doubtless the work of many human hands. Evidence suggests that Hopewell earthworks were used for a variety of ceremonial and social activities between 200 BC to AD 500. Come learn about these sacred spaces and reflect upon the lives of their builders.

Great Seal State Park - Chillicothe
Great Seal State Park is dedicated to the wilderness spirit of Ohio. The history of the Shawnee nation and Ohio's early statehood is centered in these rugged hills. These very hills are depicted on the Great Seal of the State of Ohio, from which the park gets its name.

Independence Dam State Park - Defiance

Alum Creek State Park - Delaware

Hancock Heritage Days - Findlay
Annual Hancock Heritage Days will again happen just east of Findlay, Ohio very near the original training location called Camp Vance. The 21st and 57th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiments were formed & trained here. This is a Living History and Reenactment that has battles both days. Soldiers, Cannons, Military Ball, Living History, Tactical, Food, Live Music and much more. The location of this reenactment has lots of wonderful walking trails along the Blanchard River that have the appearance of roads from the timeframe. Truly a beautiful park! This will inevitably be the best event so far! Friday will also host a school day program with hundreds of local children. Check website for event held in September.

Shawnee State Park - Friendship
Located in the Appalachian foothills near the banks of the Ohio River, Shawnee State Park is nestled in the 63,000-acre Shawnee State Forest. Tar Hollow State Park - Laurelville
Twisting park and forest roads pass through deep ravines and dense woodlands. Scattered shortleaf and pitch pines growing on the ridges were once a source of pine tar for early settlers, hence the name Tar Hollow. Dogwoods, redbuds and a variety of wildflowers color the hillsides in the springtime. Fall's pageant of color is spectacular.

Guilford Lake State Park - Lisbon

James A. Garfield National Historic Site - Mentor
Birth of the Front Porch Campaign - James A. Garfield acquired this home in 1876 to accommodate his large family. Named Lawnfield by reporters it was the site of the first successful front porch campaign which saw Garfield elected as 20th President of the United States in 1880. After Garfield's assassination, the Memorial Library wing was added by Mrs. Garfield - setting the precedent for presidential libraries.

Headlands Beach State Park - Mentor

Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial - Put-in-Bay
Established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the war of 1812, but in equal part it is here to celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada and the U.S. Situated 5 miles from the longest undefended border in the world. Monument Construction began in October 1912, opened to the public on June 13 1915, and became a National Park Service Memorial in 1936.

West Branch State Park - Ravenna
West Branch State Park's large lake with its many forks and coves is extremely popular with fishermen, boaters and swimmers. The park's meadows and woodlots provide an excellent backdrop for camping, hiking and horseback riding.

Forked Run State Park - Reedsville

Jefferson Lake State Park - Richmond
History of the Area - The Jefferson Lake region was once the home of Logan, the celebrated Mingo chief whose family was massacred near here on the Ohio River at the mouth of Yellow creek. This incident spurred Lord Dunmore's War in 1774. Attractions: Camping, Boating, Swimming, Picnicking, Fishing, Hunting, Trails, Volleyball and basketball courts, as well as horseshoe pits are available at the campground.

John Bryan State Park - Yellow Springs

The Muskingum River Parkway and its 160-year-old navigation system were designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in July 2001. Along with such majestic institutions as Hoover Dam, The Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge, the Muskingum River's 10 hand-operated locks are now recognized as one of America's great engineering accomplishments.
