David Berger National Memorial - Beachwood
Honoring Those Who Died - This site honors the memory of David Berger, an American citizen who was one of 11 Israeli athletes killed at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany. David had no expectations of winning a medal but joined the Israeli weightlifting team to realize his dream - a dream which ended tragically. The Memorial is dedicated to his memory and the memory of the ten other athletes.

Barkcamp State Park - Belmont

The site is managed by the National Park Service and operated by the National First Ladies' Library.

Annual Ohio Regimental Military Ball - Canton
A full day to enjoy! We are featuring sutlers, photographer, afternoon social, cash bar, elegant dinner, and dancing with the Anonymous String Band. Hopewell Culture National Historical Park - Chillicothe
Sacred Spaces- A Place for Reflection in the Past and Today - Mounds of various shapes and enclosures often built in geometric patterns dot the landscape of the Ohio River Valley. These earthen structures were doubtless the work of many human hands. Evidence suggests that Hopewell earthworks were used for a variety of ceremonial and social activities between 200 BC to AD 500. Come learn about these sacred spaces and reflect upon the lives of their builders.

Great Seal State Park - Chillicothe

Harriet Beecher Stowe House - Cincinnati

Museum of Ceramics - East Liverpool
The East Liverpool Museum of Ceramics houses an extensive collection of the wares produced by "America's Crockery City." Related displays on the social, political and economic history of this town show the impact of industry on the community. Ceramic manufacturing was more important in East Liverpool during the late 19th century than is steel production in Pittsburgh or automobile manufacturing in Detroit today. The exhibits in the museum depict the growth and development of East Liverpool and its ceramic industry from 1840 to 1930, the period when the city's potteries produced over 50% of the ceramics manufactured in the United States. Through the skillful use of photographs, artifacts and life-size dioramas, the exhibits vividly portray the products and life of one of Ohio's most unique cities.

Hancock Heritage Days - Findlay
Annual Hancock Heritage Days will again happen just east of Findlay, Ohio very near the original training location called Camp Vance. The 21st and 57th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiments were formed & trained here. This is a Living History and Reenactment that has battles both days. Soldiers, Cannons, Military Ball, Living History, Tactical, Food, Live Music and much more. The location of this reenactment has lots of wonderful walking trails along the Blanchard River that have the appearance of roads from the timeframe. Truly a beautiful park! This will inevitably be the best event so far! Friday will also host a school day program with hundreds of local children. Check website for event held in September.

Shawnee State Park - Friendship

Geneva State Park - Geneva
Located on Ohio's northeastern shoreline, Geneva State Park reflects the character and charisma of Lake Erie. The shimmering expanse of the lake lures vacationers who enjoy fishing and boating. Swimmers rejoice in the beautiful sand beach while nature enthusiasts retreat to the park's freshwater marshes and estuaries associated with the lake.

Flint Ridge - Glenford
Flint Ridge contains quarry pits where all of the ancient people of Ohio came to get flint for both tools and weapons. The flint was also a trade item for many of these people. The flint was especially prized by the Hopewell Culture for its quality and beauty. A walk through the site brings home how hard people labored to remove this material from the earth. The museum at Flint Ridge is built around a restored prehistoric quarry pit and explains both the digging and shaping of flint. The unique geology of the area is also a feature of the displays. The site includes a museum shop that features flint as a gemstone with locally manufactured jewelry.

Located in southeast Ohio, quiet and remote Burr Oak State Park has a rustic country charm in its scenery of wooded hills and valley farms. Marblehead Lighthouse State Park - Marblehead
Marblehead Lighthouse, one of Lake Erie's best known and most-photographed landmarks, is one of Ohio's newest state parks! The grounds surrounding the lighthouse offer excellent picnicking and views of Lake Erie, Sandusky Bay, Kelleys Island and South Bass Island. A museum, located in the Keeper's House and operated by the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society, is open whenever the tower is open.

Campus Martius Museum - Marietta
The Campus Martius Museum highlights migration in Ohio's history. The museum is on the site of the fortification built by the Ohio Company of Associates, as their headquarters, in 1788 when they founded the first organized American settlement in the Northwest Territory. Exhibits on the main floor of the museum focus on the early settlement of Marietta and Ohio and contain many of the original pioneer artifacts. The exhibits also explore the prehistoric Indian populations that occupied this area and relations with the historic Indians as the white settlers moved in. Other areas explore such topics as surveying of the land, early government in the old Northwest Territory, and life in early Marietta. A separate area exhibits a variety of material from the Marietta area down through the years, from items of household furnishings, to toys, to tools, to fire prevention equipment.

Ohio River Museum - Marietta
Marietta, Ohio is proud of its riverboat heritage and at the Ohio River Museum visitors can discover the golden age of the steamboat, and learn more about the ecology of the Ohio River system. The Ohio River Museum consists of three exhibit buildings, the first of which houses displays depicting the origins and natural history of the Ohio River. The history of the steamboat on the Ohio River system is featured in the second building, along with a video presentation on river steamboats. The last building features displays about boat building, mussels in the Ohio River system, and tool and equipment from the steamboat era.

Harding Home - Marion
Warren G. Harding launched himself into the White house in 1920 with his famous "front porch" campaign, which he conducted from his Victorian home in Marion, Ohio. The restored house was built in 1891 and contains almost all original furnishings owned by President Harding and his wife Florence. The library was renovated in 2005. Adjacent to the Harding Home is a press house used during the 1920 campaign which now serves as a museum dedicated to President and Mrs. Harding's lives

James A. Garfield National Historic Site - Mentor
Birth of the Front Porch Campaign - James A. Garfield acquired this home in 1876 to accommodate his large family. Named Lawnfield by reporters it was the site of the first successful front porch campaign which saw Garfield elected as 20th President of the United States in 1880. After Garfield's assassination, the Memorial Library wing was added by Mrs. Garfield - setting the precedent for presidential libraries.

Headlands Beach State Park - Mentor
The trademark of Headlands Beach State Park is its mile-long natural sand beach, the largest in the state. In addition to its popularity during the summer season with picnickers and swimmers, the area is home to many plant species typically found only along the Atlantic Coast.

Punderson State Park - Newbury
Punderson State Park with its natural lake, resort manor house, family cottages, golf course and scenic campground, provides myriad recreational opportunities for visitors. Punderson is also Ohio's premier winter sports park. Sledding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are all at their best.

Tinkers Creek State Park - Newbury
The swamps and marshlands of Tinker's Creek State Park harbor a variety of natural wonders. Herons, ducks, geese and beaver can be found in the spring-fed waters, while cattail, buttonbush and swamp white oak line the shores of this beautiful park.

National Road / Zane Grey Museum - Norwich
This modern museum has three major exhibit areas. First is the National Road, early America's busiest land artery to the West. The National Road stretched from Cumberland, MD. to Vandalia, IL. Begun in 1806, the "Main Street of America" was the only significant land link between east coast and western frontier in the early 19th century. A 136 foot diorama of the National Road plus many objects illustrate this theme. Second is Zane Grey, the "Father of the Adult Western." The Zanesville author wrote more than 80 books. His study is recreated plus many manuscripts and other memorabilia are displayed. Finally, a central portion of the museum is devoted to Ohio art pottery.

Jackson Lake State Park - Oak Hill
Although relatively small, Jackson Lake State Park boasts acres of some of the most scenic country in Ohio. The park's serene lake is a focal point for excellent fishing and provides the ideal setting for a peaceful retreat.

Maumee Bay State Park - Oregon
Maumee Bay State Park offers not only the finest of recreational facilities in the Midwest, but also a unique natural environment created by the convergence of the land and Lake Erie. Fort Ancient - Oregonia
Fort Ancient features 18,000 feet of earthen walls built 2,000 years ago by American Indians who used the shoulder blades of deer, split elk antler, clam shell hoes and digging sticks to dig the dirt. They then carried the soil in baskets holding 35 to 40 pounds. Portions of these walls were used in conjunction with the sun and moon to provide a calendar system for these peoples. The site offers beautiful vistas along hiking trails as well as the remains of the prehistoric mounds for visitors to see. Convenient picnic areas can be found along the road at the site. Hopewell Copper Ornament The Museum at Fort Ancient contains 9000 sq. ft. of exhibits, including many interactive units, focusing on 15,000 years of American Indian history in the Ohio Valley. The Museum also contains a classroom, a research area, and a sales shop with many fine American Indian items.

Fort Meigs - Perrysburg
William Henry Harrison built Fort Meigs on the Maumee River in 1813 to protect northwest Ohio and Indiana from British invasion. Today's reconstruction is one of the largest log forts in America. The Museum and Education Center has 3,000 square feet of exhibits and artifacts - including soldiers' letters and diaries, weapons, maps, and uniforms - that describe Fort Meigs role during the War of 1812. Exhibits themes include The Lore of the Land, The Sixty Year War for Ohio, and Building Fort Meigs. Original artifacts from the War of 1812, including swords, uniforms, and maps highlight the events of the war and the impact it had on soldiers and thier families.

Johnston Farm and Indian Agency - Piqua
The Johnston Farm and Indian Agency, formerly known as the Piqua Historical Area State Memorial celebrates two thousand years of Ohio's rich history from prehistoric Indians to Ohio's canal era. The focal point of the peaceful 200-acre park is John Johnston--farmer, public official, and United States Indian Agent for western Ohio from 1812 to 1829. Here Johnston's numerous contributions to the growth of early Ohio and settlement of frontier America are presented in a truly unique and beautiful setting.

Stonelick State Park - Pleasant Plain
Tucked away in the rolling highlands of southwest Ohio, Stonelick State Park offer a quiet retreat for visitors. The still waters of the lake and stately woodlands provide the setting for a host of outdoor recreational pursuits.

Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial - Put-in-Bay
Established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the war of 1812, but in equal part it is here to celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada and the U.S. Situated 5 miles from the longest undefended border in the world. Monument Construction began in October 1912, opened to the public on June 13 1915, and became a National Park Service Memorial in 1936.

West Branch State Park - Ravenna
West Branch State Park's large lake with its many forks and coves is extremely popular with fishermen, boaters and swimmers. The park's meadows and woodlots provide an excellent backdrop for camping, hiking and horseback riding.

Forked Run State Park - Reedsville

Jefferson Lake State Park - Richmond
History of the Area - The Jefferson Lake region was once the home of Logan, the celebrated Mingo chief whose family was massacred near here on the Ohio River at the mouth of Yellow creek. This incident spurred Lord Dunmore's War in 1774. Attractions: Camping, Boating, Swimming, Picnicking, Fishing, Hunting, Trails, Volleyball and basketball courts, as well as horseshoe pits are available at the campground.

Indian Mill - Sandusky
In a scenic location along the Sandusky River, Indian Mill, built in 1861, is the nation's first educational museum of milling in its original structure. The restored three-story structure replaces the original one-story building that the U. S. government built in 1820 to reward the loyalty of local Wyandot Indians during the War of 1812. Many exhibits are placed around the original mill machinery. The restored miller's office displays the history of milling from prehistoric times to the present.

John Bryan State Park - Yellow Springs
John Bryan is the most scenic state park in western Ohio. The park contains a remarkable limestone gorge cut by the Little Miami River which is designated as a state and national scenic river. A portion of the gorge itself is designated as a national natural landmark.

Muskingum River Parkway State Park - Zanesville
The Muskingum River Parkway and its 160-year-old navigation system were designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in July 2001. Along with such majestic institutions as Hoover Dam, The Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge, the Muskingum River's 10 hand-operated locks are now recognized as one of America's great engineering accomplishments.
